The Fire Escape Hood is a standalone respiratory protection device designed specifically for emergency evacuation from fire incidents. This version comes packed in a transparent foil pouch and is intended for use as a refill pack for the PARAT® 5550 holster, allowing users to replace an expired or used unit while retaining the original carrying system.
This hood is equipped with a CO P2 combination filter, which provides effective protection against toxic fire-related gases, vapours, and particles generated during combustion. It offers a minimum usage time of 15 minutes, giving the wearer a critical window to escape from hazardous, smoke-filled environments safely.
The product holds approval according to EN 403:2004 for fire escape hoods, ensuring it meets the required European standards for performance and safety. In addition, it has been rigorously tested for protection against hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) at concentrations of up to 2,500 ppm, in accordance with DIN 58647-7, demonstrating its capability against specific toxic gases beyond standard fire scenarios.
The packaging consists of a transparent foil pouch that features a clearly marked opening and a perforated opening area for quick and intuitive access during an emergency. For ease of use, donning pictograms are printed on the inside of the pouch, guiding the user through the correct application steps. A pressure equalization valve is also integrated into the pouch to allow for air to be released, preventing damage during transport or storage.
The total service life of this Fire Escape Hood is 8 years from the date of manufacture, provided it is stored according to the instructions for use. Unlike the holster system version, this refill pack does not require an intermediate filter replacement, and the entire unit must be replaced at the end of its 8-year shelf life to guarantee full protection.
